Director Kim's Profile

Director Jae Kwon Kim, received a BFA in illustration and painting from Rhode Island School of Design. In 1986 he was the recipient of The Hulda and Earle Miller Memorial Award from The 29th Annual Chautauqua National Exhibition of American Art with his art work Rigid Poem (Modern Icon). The Juror Charles Clough chose Kim’s painting out of 2249 entries. Also he subsequently worked as an illustrator for the New York Times for two years. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited widely by the public view.

After serving as an illustrator at The New York Times, he opened his first art gallery named “The Dahn Gallery” in the art district of New York City in 1994. As the director of The Dahn Gallery, Jae Kwon Kim had a rare opportunity to work on the works of Louise Bourgeois, which included the sculpture “A Process of Self Affirmation”, along with artists such as Annette Lemieux, Michel Alexis , Sun Myung Choi and Yoo A Park.

He worked as a freelance interior designer in Seoul, Korea since 1999. Mr. Kim worked on high scale projects such as the Tower Palace II Model House, the Guest residence project of Ga Pyeong, Dae Jeon, Pusan, and the Traum House Model House. Some of his clients included Samsung Group, and HanWha Group. Kim launched Armani Casa Korea, which was significant for Giorgio Armani group had only two locations in Asia. Kim came back to the U.S. to commence Furniture Plaza, the largest Korean owned and operated furniture retail showroom with a grand scale of 60,000sq. ft. located in Nanuet, NY.

Jae Kwon Kim is now working as director at Hue Art Studio, established in 2009, and located at 249 Broad Avenue of Palisades Park. He has return to his hometown of Art fields as a educator with his past 25 years of life experience as well as a art patron and art professional. Hue Art School prides itself in developing a working partnership with its students and helps to create comprehensive portfolios for college and graduate admissions. Works of the studio range widely in scale, including recommendations of schools, conventions, competitions, and specialty consortiums.
